The association

On Sept 15, 2015, some friends and I founded the association called “Surya Kiran – a sunray for children”. Its name is coming from the Sanskrit words for sun (surya) and ray (kiran). It symbolizes our support for needy Nepalese children. The association is responsible for the maintenance of the hostels ‘Surya Kiran’ which are supervised and coordinated locally by Anupendra Acharya or his deputies. The association also sponsors schooling and professional education of SDB children in different ways.

Mr. Anupendra has been working as a social worker and school manager for 25 years. In various social projects he fosters education and development of children, poor women and poor families at the fringe of society. He himself grew up in a hostel, later he worked for two years as supervisor in the St. Xavier’s School that he had attended himself. Since 1997 Mr. Anupendra Acharya is managing the SDB School which he has expanded step by step including the license as a secondary school up to class 10.
